The code is the code. Comments are comments. I can absolutely understand a developer paradigm where comments are extraneous. If your code will only ever live in-house with a team of developers you know will always understand everything you write? Sure, go nuts and pretend comments don’t exist I guess…

For the rest of the world? Commenting can, and usually does have value.
